It seems that many children aged 10 to 15 who have become able to work to some extent quit school and start working for their household budget.
We asked a total of 20 children, 10 to 15 years old, 10 children who went to school and 10 children who quit school halfway through, about their dreams for the future.
Three out of ten children who go to school answered “doctors”.
Since medical treatment is often not available and one of the family members is ill, it seems that they longs for a medical professional who can cure it.
Two out of ten answered “school teachers”.
In the future, they wants to teach immigrant children to study, like the teachers who taught them to study.
In addition, soccer players, cooks, craftsmen, etc.
All 10 of the children who quit school are working on a daily basis.
They answered “I want to be a full-time employee”, “I want to live with my family all the time”, and “I want to have a stable job”.
Doctors and teachers have a tough time if they don’t go to college and get a qualification.
By gradually eliminating unstable employment and increasing the number of households with stable income, we would like to create an “option to return to Myanmar and go to university” that only about 10% of children can take now.
